Bradley Lowell Mechaelsen, 55

Bradley Lowell Mechaelsen, 55, of Austin, Minnesota, died peacefully on Sunday, Feb. 12, 2017, at his home following a year-long battle with cancer.

Brad was born Aug. 4, 1961, in Webster City, Iowa, to Lowell and Patricia (Nelson) Mechaelsen. He graduated from Webster City High School. On Nov. 13, 2014, he was united in marriage to Karen Marie Moe at Crane Community Chapel in Austin.  Brad and Karen loved their church.

Brad worked at Quality Pork for eight years, from 1991 to 1999.  He enjoyed playing pool, darts and he loved spending time with his dog, Buddy.

Survivors include his wife, Karen Mechaelsen, Austin; two daughters, Jessica McGilligan (Dustin Ewing), Des Moines, Iowa, and Sierra Riley, Redwood Falls, Minnesota; a granddaughter, Emmersyn, Des Moines; his mother, Patricia Mechaelsen, Webster City; his brother, Ben Mechaelsen, Webster City; his mother-in-law, Barb McDermott, Oshkosh, Wisconsin; and aunts, uncles and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his daughter, Nicole Mechaelsen; his father, Lowell Mechaelsen; and his beloved dog, Buddy.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m.  on Saturday, Feb. 18, 2017, at Crane Community Chapel with the Rev. Dale Christiansen officiating. The family will greet friends at a luncheon following the service. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery in Webster City at a later date.
