Trent M. Borgesen, 53, of Austin, Minnesota, died unexpectedly on Feb. 21, 2017, in Albert Lea, Minnesota.

He was born May 6, 1963, in Austin, the son of Stanley and Katharine (Tompkins) Borgesen. Trent graduated from Austin High School in 1981. On Oct. 3, 1981, he married Jo Marie Leth in Kasson, Minnesota. The couple divorced in 1992. Trent owned and operated Borgesen Pumping, a farm pumping business. He later went to work for Waste Management in Rochester, Minnesota, and worked various jobs in Georgia and North Carolina for several years. Trent returned to Minnesota in 1997. His favorite pastimes included tinkering, and he was a backyard inventor.

Trent is survived by his daughters, Lindsay (David) Chow of Eagan, Minnesota and Katie Borgesen of Dodge Center, Minnesota; five grandchildren, Aiden, Tessa, Joey, Billy, and Lexi; brothers, Craig Borgesen of Austin and Erik Borgesen of Seattle, Washington; his former wife, Jo Marie Morris of Rochester; and special friend, Sharon Kamp of Austin. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister in infancy.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2017, at the Worlein Funeral Home Chapel in Austin with Pastor Shari Mason officiating. The Borgesen family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Mantorville, Minnesota.
