Roger D. Amundson, 76

Roger D. Amundson, 76, died Friday evening, March 3, 2017, at his home in Blooming Prairie, Minnesota, with family and caregiver at his side.

He was born June 19, 1940, in Austin, Minnesota, the son of Sydney J. and Evelyn A. (Borchert) Amundson. He attended school in Blooming Prairie, graduating from Blooming Prairie High School in 1958. Roger farmed in Newry Township until moving into Blooming Prairie in 2005. In addition to his farming, Roger was a businessman and entrepreneur and owned and operated Valley Golf Course in Mondovi, Wisconsin.  He loved to go 4-wheeling, boating, golfing and driving his John Deere tractors.

Survivors include his children, Lori Amundson of Rockford, Minnesota, Brad Amundson of Maple Grove, Minnesota, Doug (Tara) Amundson of Rochester, Minnesota and Lois (Brian) Nelson of Blooming Prairie; many loving grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sisters and brothers, Marian (Charles) Lehman of Medical Lake, Washington, Geraldine (Robert) Festul of Belle Vista, Arkansas, Marvin (Norma) Amundson of Owatonna, and Gordon (Charlotte Snow) Amundson of Austin; a special caregiver, Sadie Steele; many nieces, nephews; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 9, 2017, at First Lutheran Church in Blooming Prairie with the Rev. Richard Hegal, officiating. Interment will follow the service at Blooming Prairie Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 11 a.m. on Thursday at the church.
