Make-A-Wish to train new volunteers

Make-A-Wish is seeking new wish-granting volunteers and is offering a free training session in Austin.

The training will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 23 at the Hormel Foods corporate offices.

Volunteer Wish Granters work in teams of two or three to help grant the wishes of children in their community. Volunteers help identify the one true wish of a Minnesota child and create extra excitement while their wish is being planned.

Barb Maciej became a wish granter after her own daughter’s wish was granted in 2012. “I know how much my family appreciated that wish,” said Maciej. “Now that I’m a wish granter, it’s so rewarding to see the joy we can bring to these kids.”

Thanks to community volunteers and supporters of Make-A-Wish® Minnesota, more than 250 children diagnosed with life-threatening medical conditions across Minnesota experienced the magic of a wish come true last year.
