David Nordeen Gilderhus, 88

David Nordeen Gilderhus , 88, of Adams, Minnesota, died Wednesday, March 15, 2017, at the Adams Health Care Center.
David was born Aug. 8, 1928, to Nordeen and Mabel (Scharberg) Gilderhus in Hayfield, Minnesota. The Gilderhus family moved to Adams in 1941. David graduated from Adams High School and also attended one year at the University of Minnesota School of Agriculture.
He married LaVonne Roe on May 20, 1951, at the LeRoy Lutheran Church in LeRoy, Minnesota. Together they raised one son, Gary, and one daughter, Cindy. David farmed his entire life, until the age of 80. He loved to farm, discuss politics, and serve his community and church. He served on the Clayton Township Board for 45 years. He was the Secretary and Director of the State Association of Townships and also served for 22 years as a director on the Freeborn-Mower Electric Cooperative Board. He was also active with the Adams Lions Club. David was a very active member of Marshall Lutheran Church, teaching Sunday School, serving on the church Council, rolling meatballs and sharing his gift of music. He thought of the Marshall members as his second family.
David is survived by his wife, LaVonne; son, Gary (Sandy) Gilderhus of Owatonna, Minnesota; daughter, Cindy (Larry) Bellrichard of Austin, Minnesota; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister, Martha Egeland; brother-in-law, Milo (Joan) Roe; and sister-in-law, Eleanor (Roger) Ault. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nordeen and Mable Gilderhus; sisters, Dolphy Gilderhus and Jean Gumerson; in-laws, Archie and Orena Roe; brothers-in-law, Dow Gumerson and Ralph Egeland.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 18, 2017, at Little Cedar Lutheran Church in Adams, with the Rev. Jeremy Johnson officiating. Interment will be at the Marshall Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, March 17, at the Adams Funeral Home and at the church for one hour before the service on Saturday.
