Does the idea of designing and testing ring gliders, magnetic bridges, or mini-catapults grab your attention?
Are you interested in creating your own sound makers or trying your hand at bucket drumming?
Maybe art or computer programming is something that really interests you.
I.J. Holton, in partnership with the Works Museum, MacPhail Center for Music, and the Austin Artworks Center, will host the second annual Family STEAM Night from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 28.
All I.J. Holton students and their families are invited to attend this event to explore a variety of hands-on learning and interactive stations, which focus on concepts related to science, technology, engineering, art, and math. This free event is set up as an open house with a lot of flexibility for your family to select the activities that spark your interest. Slices of pizza will be sold in the cafeteria for $2 per slice as well.
The Family STEAM Night is open to all fourth grade students and families too! Stop by to tour I.J. Holton and meet many of our staff members. This event engages future Holton students in many of our academic and extracurricular opportunities. Make the transition to I.J. Holton a breeze by joining us for this fun, family event.
We are beyond excited to meet our future Holton Hawks! Fourth graders will attend an informational meetings on April 4 and 5, when all the elementary schools receive tours, meet staff, and try out band instruments.
In addition, parent meetings will be held on April 6 to support a smooth transition to our school. Please watch for more detailed information regarding these meetings.
I.J. Holton staff continue to work with families to promote conversations around improving student success. If you are looking to join in on the conversation, please attend our quarterly “Parent Unconferences.” These unconferences serve as a venue for families to give feedback and suggestions to continually strengthen home, school, and community partnerships. I.J Holton strives to develop meaningful opportunities for families to learn together. In addition to our STEAM Night, I.J. Holton has offered events this year including Family H.E.A.T night, which provided families a chance to explore many of the recreational activities offered to students in our after-school program, and a “Breakfast and Books” event aimed at promoting independent reading at home with just right books.
