3 taken to hospital after Wednesday crash

Drivers cited
Austin police responded to a crash that injured three people at the intersection of 12th Street Northeast and Seventh Avenue Northeast at 8:34 a.m. on Wednesday.
According to Chief Brian Krueger, a gray 1999 Mercedes heading eastbound on Seventh Avenue Northeast collided with a silver 2009 Dodge Caravan heading southbound on 12th Street Northeast.
The Dodge Caravan was flipped over on its roof when police arrived. The Mercedes received heavy front-end damage.
The driver of the Mercedes, a 17-year-old female from Austin, and a passenger, a 16-year-old female from Austin, told police they saw the Caravan, but kept going since there was no stop sign.
The driver of the Caravan, a 37-year-old female from Austin, was cited for failure to yield.
The driver of the Mercedes was cited for driving without a license and having no insurance.
Both drivers and the passenger were transported to Mayo Clinic Health Systems for non-life-threatening injuries.
