Drunken driver allegedly hits parked car, flees

Arminus Paulino, 33, of Austin was arrested for DWI on Saturday, April 8, after allegedly running his vehicle into a parked car and attempting to flee the scene.

According to Chief Brian Krueger, Austin police officers responded to a hit and run call at 8:59 p.m. on Saturday, April 8. The incident occurred at Ninth Avenue and Eighth Street Southwest, where a man driving his girlfriend’s car observed Paulino driving erratically. Paulino’s vehicle allegedly struck the man’s parked vehicle. The man got Paulino to pull over before the police arrived.

Police detected the odor of alcohol in Paulino’s vehicle. Paulino’s eyes were glossy and bloodshot and he had difficulty retrieving his identification and proof of insurance.

After failing a field sobriety test, Paulino was transported to Mower County jail, where a breathalyzer test determined he was over the legal limit.

He was charged Monday in Mower County District Court with two gross misdemeanor DWI counts and misdemeanors for driving with a revoked license and driving without insurance.
