One of two people arrested after an April 2016 traffic stop uncovered 34 grams of methamphetamine and more than $2,000 was sentenced to jail time, a stayed prison term and community service in Mower County District Court on Thursday.

Bradley Arnold Quimby, 48, was sentenced for felony second-degree drug possession to a stayed prison term of 105 months, which will be stayed over 25 years of probation as long as he meets 31 conditions. He was also sentenced to a year in jail with credit for 300 days served, and he must serve 500 hours of community service, 250 of which can be served by attending drug and/or alcohol treatment.

The other person involved, Karry Wenthold, 29, of Kasson was sentenced in February for fifth-degree drug possession to five years of probation, 128 days in jail with credit for 125 days served and 120 hours of community service, which could be served through treatment classes.   

Mower County Sheriff’s Office deputies saw a 1998 Acura Integra driving north on Highway 56 and saw Quimby driving and Karry Wenthold, 29, in the vehicle at about 10:18 p.m. on April 2, 2016.

The car had a broken license plate light, and officers followed the car on County Road 2, where they stopped it after the driver crossed the fog line twice.

Quimby and Wenthold had switched seats and Wenthold was in the driver’s seat. When asked why they switched, the woman said she was always driving.

Quimby said he didn’t have his driver’s license and officers learned it was canceled and he had a felony arrest warrant from Goodhue County. He was arrested.

The officers spoke to Wenthold, who confirmed Quimby had been driving the car first. Wenthold showed signs of having used drugs and officers found a glass pipe on her.

Officers searched the Acura and found a bag and plastic container that contained about 34 grams of meth under the front passenger seat. They also found a metal marijuana pipe in the center console. Deputies also seized two cell phones and $2,229 in cash on Quimby and in the car.
