Hayfield softball team finishes fourth place at the state tournament

The Hayfield softball team had its season come to an end with a fourth place finish at the Minnesota Class A state softball tournament after it lost to Sleepy Eye/Saint Mary’s 15-2 in five innings in Caswell Park in North Mankato Friday.
SESM (24-3 overall) scored nine runs in the top of the first inning to break the game open.
Carrie Rutledge had two RBIs in the loss for the Vikings (19-8 overall). Rutledge was named to the All-State tournament team after she tied a state tournament record with three doubles against Edgerton-Southwest Christian.
