Foundation seeks groups for grant funding

Austin Area Foundation is urging area nonprofit organizations from Austin to submit applications for grants.
Applications are due by Sept. 1, 2017, and are available at AAF office, 110 First Ave. SE, or online, www.austinareafoundation.org
“We are excited to distribute grants that help area nonprofit organizations do outstanding work to impact lives in positive ways,” said Jeff Baldus, Executive Director of AAF. “Our mission is served when we create opportunities to connect our local donors who want to give with needs they can help with through charitable organizations in the Austin area.”
Over $21,000 was distributed last year. No individual amounts were released.
2016 Grant Recipients
•Austin Area Commission for the Arts, craft sessions for area youth
•Austin Community Band, summer music/concert series in the park
•Austin Symphony Orchestra, Sponsorship of program
•Cedar River Watershed District, materials for river access
•Faith Church, community car care clinic
•Freedom Fest 2017, finance festival events and activities
•Friends of the Jay C. Hormel Nature Center, puppet theatre and puppets
•Hormel Historic Home, kids petting zoo
•KAUS, Hy-Vee, Feed a Family, food for the holidays
•Matchbox Children’s Theater, funds for production costs for shows
•Mower County Seniors, Inc., senior advocacy/caregiver program
•Northwestern Singers, instrumentalists and carpenter
•Rachel’s Hope, diapers for infants
•Real Hope for the Hungry, cover MealPack costs for Austin Salvation Army
•Salvation Army, food for Thanksgiving baskets
•St. Olaf backpack program, food for Head Start children
•Summerset Theatre, funds for show production costs.
