Best Bets: Full Brownsdale Fest makes its return

After a two-year hiatus, Brownsdale Fest will return in full force on Saturday.

Originally started as “Hobo Days,” Brownsdale Fest was organized by the Brownsdale Fire Department for many years. Two years ago, they turned the reins over to the Frontier Lounge.

“The fire department had kid’s events, which we didn’t have,” said Frontier Lounge co-owner Mike Rumsey. “We had a bean bag tournament at the Lounge, and when kids showed up, they would wonder where their events were. When we saw the heartbroken kids, we decided to bring stuff back for them.”

Rumsey said that this year, the community is getting involved.

“We all want to bring Brownsdale Fest back to town,” he said. “They just needed somebody to head it up.”

Rumsey encourages everyone to visit and see Brownsdale.

“I hope to see everybody there,” he said. “If you’re looking to have a good time with the kids, it’s the place to be. We’d love for people to come and see what a friendly town we are.”

“And there will be a lot of good food,” he added.
