Mechanic (full-time union position) Starting wage is $21.51 – $24.09 per hour de-pendent upon education and experience. Mechanics are responsible for troubleshooting, diagnosis, repair and maintenance of all county owned vehicles and equipment.

The position performs truck inspections as required by MNDOT. Also, assists in the maintenance and repair of culverts by performing welding responsibilities. Installs and maintains equipment and radios on all Sheriff’s department vehicles.

Position requires an Associate’s Degree or Vocational certificate in automotive, truck and heavy equipment repair and one year experience in the repair and maintenance of heavy road and vehicle equipment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the duties of the job and a valid MN Class A commercial driver’s license.

Successful applicant will be required to attain the following certifications/endorsements/trainings within six months of hire: MNDOT Truck Inspector, Air Condition-ing Certification, Tanker Endorsement, Forklift Training, and A.S.E. Certification in brakes, suspension and steering on cars, light trucks, heavy trucks, and equipment.

Pre-employment drug and alcohol testing will be conducted and must maintain a valid MNDOT health card.
