For members of the Mower County Mounted Posse, the first day of the Mower County Fair was a time to remember Capt. Bill Wuerflein.
Members of the Mounted Posse, a volunteer security force that helps keep the peace at the fair, wore white ribbons over their badges on Tuesday to honor the memory of the long time captain, who passed away earlier this year.
While wearing the ribbon is optional for law enforcement, Mower County Sheriff Terese Amazi said she would wear one.
“I knew Bill very well,” she said. “I will be wearing it while at the Fair.”
