David Elliot Young, 84

On Sunday, Aug. 13, 2017, David Elliot Young of Lyle, Minnesota, went to be with his Lord and Savior.
David was born May 6, 1933, to Elliot and Ruth (Bacon) Young. He was raised on a farm in Dexter, Minnesota, and went to a little country school. David married Joyce (Powers) Young, on Oct. 17, 1953. David and Joyce moved to Lyle in 1954 where they raised their four children, Victor (Melinda) Young, Douglas (Joelle) Young, Jarrod Young and Michelle Young. David served in the U.S. Army from 1956-1958. When he returned home in 1958 from the service, he started Young Truck Lines which he operated until his retirement in 1998. During his retirement, he spent winters in Mesa, Arizona, and summers in Lyle. David was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in London, Minnesota.
David is preceded in death by his parents, Ruth and Elliot Young; his eldest sister, Charlotte (Young) Thagard; and his beloved son Victor. David has three sisters, Carol Rauen, Northwood, Iowa, Sharon (Arthur) Hollerud, Austin, Minnesota, and Shirley (Bill) Smith, Claremore, Oklahoma. David was the loving grandfather and great-grandfather of Amber, Ethan, Trevor, David, Matt, Mandy, Khari, Lucy, Autumn, Teo and Penelope. David was beloved by his family and will be deeply missed until we meet again.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 18, 2017, at the Faith Lutheran Church in London with the Rev. Kent Otterman officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 17, 2017, at the Worlein Funeral Home Chapel and for one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church. Interment will be in Woodbury Cemetery in rural Lyle. Memorials can be directed to recipient of donor’s choice.
