Man charged in 3-county car chase that injured 2

A man who allegedly led police on a high-speed chase that ran through Olmsted, Mower and Dodge counties was charged in Mower County District Court on Wednesday.
Scott Michael Skjeveland, 48, of Rochester was charged with felony fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle.
According to Mower County Chief Deputy Mark May, Skjeveland stole a vehicle from a group home in Rochester after assaulting a member of the staff.
Skjeveland led police on an on-and-off chase through Olmsted, Mower and Dodge counties with speeds ranging from 30 to 100 mph.
The chase ended on Highway 56 near Dodge County Road 6 when Skjeveland struck another vehicle, injuring the driver and passenger. Both were taken to Mayo Clinic, Saint Mary’s campus in Rochester for non-life threatening injuries.
Skjeveland is scheduled to appear in court again on Aug. 28.
