Hayfield volleyball team opens with a sweep

The Hayfield volleyball team started off a slow, but it was able to open its season with sweep over Fillmore Central by scores of 28-26, 25-7, 25-18 on the road Thursday.
The Vikings (1-0 overall) had trailed the first game 20-17, but they bounced back. Kate Kruger had 11 kills for the Vikings (1-0 overall) and Cela Carney added 19 digs.
“The first win was filled with some nerves and jitters,” Hayfield head coach Jeremy Struck said. “Fillmore was up for the challenge and really came out strong. Once we settled in, it was much better team play. It always good to start the season with a win.”
