The Southland boys and the Lyle/Pacelli girls golf teams took first place at the three-team Rebel Invite in Adams Thursday.
The Rebel boys tallied a team score of 355 in 18 holes and Matt Breitbarth was meet medalist with a 79.
Southland head coach Tim Brennan, who is the father of L/P’s leader Alex Brennan, who shot an 84, was glad to bring the traveling trophy back to his team.
“Matt’s score was commendable considering no one was getting much roll,” Brennan said. “We managed to win back the traveling trophy that’s been in LP’s hands the last couple of years. The Rebel Invite is kind of a ‘bragging rights’ thing with my son. Today, it was our turn.”
L/P’s boys had a team score of 394 and LeRoy/Ostrander/Grand Meadow shot a 419.
The Lyle/Pacelli girls took first with a team score of 246 in nine holes and Jennie Marx was meet medalist with a 53 and Emily Leif was right behind her with a 55.
“LP has a nice team and they definitely showed they were the class team today,” Brennan said. “I think the wet conditions held the scores up a bit as it was tough to for some of the girls to get much distance.”
Southland’s girls scored a 298 and LO/GM shot a 265.
