A man whose vehicle collided head-on with another vehicle appeared on Thursday in Mower County District Court.

Kim Delane Johnson, 60, of Austin was charged with gross misdemeanor DWI, misdemeanor DWI, misdemeanor careless driving and misdemeanor open bottle.

According to Austin Police Chief Brian Krueger, Johnson was driving northbound in the southbound lane of Sixth Street Northeast when he collided head-on with another vehicle Tuesday evening.

The victim was not hurt, but Johnson had an injury to his head and was treated at Mayo Clinic Health System – Austin before being taken into custody.

He allegedly tested positive for being over the legal limit at the Mower County Jail.
