A man arrested Tuesday after allegedly stealing a woman’s wallet at Walmart appeared on Thursday in Mower County District Court.
Christopher Nathaniel Easley, 26, of Austin was charged with felony theft-take/use/transfer movable property without consent.
According to Austin Police Chief Brian Krueger, officers responded to a call Tuesday night at Walmart, where a woman told them that a black male, wearing a red shirt, had stolen her wallet from her shopping cart. She immediately confronted him and he fled the store.
She told officers he fled north into a wooded area. After a search, Easley came out of the woods and was arrested.
Walmart’s security footage allegedly showed Easley taking the wallet from the shopping cart and the woman confronting him.
Easley is due in court again on Sept. 25.
