Lois Jean Larson, 79

Lois Jean Larson, 79, of Austin, Minnesota, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 20 2017, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Home in Austin.
Lois was born on Jan. 15, 1938, in Kensett, Iowa, one of three daughters born to Roy and Maxine (Louden) Nelson. She graduated from Austin High School in 1955.
Lois worked at Minneapolis Honeywell until she met Ray Bryan Larson. They were united in marriage on Feb. 3, 1962. They were blessed with two daughters, Kimberley Jean, born Jan. 17, 1963, and 4 1/2 years later, Michelle Rae, born June 23, 1967.
Lois loved her family, her grandchildren and anything to do with Elvis Presley, and her ’58 and ’66 T-Birds. She would sit and tap her fingers on her knee to the beat of his music.
Lois fought the debilitating disease multiple sclerosis for 48 years; she was a fighter throughout all of those whole 48 years until MS won the battle.
Lois is survived by her husband, Ray of Glenville, Minnesota; daughter, Michelle Rae (Rick Handler) of Norfolk, Nebraska; son-in-law, Scott Hegna of Fountain Hills, Arizona; her loving grandchildren, Shauna (Ken Oconner) Hegna of Phoenix, Arizona, Nathan (Bethany) Hander of Wells, Minnesota, Shareese (William Narcy) Hegna of Gilbert , Arizona, Joshua (Stacy) Hander of Wells, Brittany (Jake Bennett) Hander of Mankato, Minnesota; and Denny Hegna of Fountain Hills; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Arlene (Wentworth) of Rochester, Minnesota; brother-in-law, Roy (Margaret) Larson of Pine Island, Minnesota; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Lois was preceded in death by her mother, Maxine; father, Roy; father-in law, George Larson and mother-in law, Betsy Larson; daughter, Kimberley and brother in-law, Rick Wentworth; and one sister in infancy, Dixie.
The funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 23, 2017, at Silver Lake Lutheran Church, rural Northwood, Iowa with Pastor Randy Baldwin officiating.
Visitation was held Friday evening at Mittelstadt Funeral Home, 902 East Main St., Lake Mills, IA 50450, and again one hour prior to the service at the church today.
Her body will be cremated after the funeral service and inurnment will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Silver Lake Lutheran Church Cemetery in rural Northwood.
