Hounds knock off Chaska

The Greyhounds (6-11 overall) used some early offense to take care of Chaska 10-7 on the road Wednesday in an amateur baseball game.
Craig Braaten opened the third inning with a three-run blast and the Greyhounds added six more runs in the third to take a commanding lead.
Braaten, who also had an RBI double in the third, now has five homers in his last six games.
“It’s been nice to have one of our big guns going,” Greyhounds manager John Frein said. “We jumped out to a big lead and had momentum, then they kind of climbed back but they couldn’t really rally and we just held on.”
Nick Dolan held Chaska to six hits in getting the win on the mound for Austin.
Frein said the Hounds could’ve scored a few more runs, but they had some runners thrown out.
“We were trying to stretch singles to doubles and we were trying to steal bases. Being aggressive cost us a little bit late, but it helped us early on,” he said.
The Hounds have beaten Chaska twice this season, but Frein said his squad isn’t focused on the regular season.
“They’re a good team, but beating them twice now doesn’t mean that much,” he said. “We’re just focused on getting better each game. Chaska hosts the state tournament and hopefully we can play them there.”
Austin has two tough opponents this weekend as they take on Commanding Edge Friday at 8 p.m. at Marcusen and face off with Minnetonka Saturday at 11 a.m. at Marcusen.
