Man pleads guilty to failing to register as a predatory offender

Dallas Aaron Ball, 24, of Austin pleaded guilty to felony failure to register as a predatory offender and misdemeanor domestic assault on Monday in Mower County District Court.

According to the court report, officers responded to a domestic disturbance call at 8 p.m. on April 23 at the Rodeway Inn in Austin. They spoke with a woman who said she had an altercation with Ball.

The woman said she and Ball had been arguing about money when he punched her in the eye. She went into the bathroom to get away from him, but he was able to get in. When he saw her eye, he stopped assaulting her and left the motel.

Police made contact with Ball, who said he had an altercation with the woman, but only tried to restrain her in self-defense. He did not have any markings to indicate she had tried to hurt him.

Police asked Ball why he did not change his address on his predatory offender registration to the Rodeway Inn and he said he forgot.
