Edbin Jose Coreas, 22, of Austin was charged with felony aggravated robbery-possessing a deadly weapon on Monday in Mower County District Court.
According to the court complaint, police made contact with a juvenile male who said he was robbed at gunpoint while trying to buy marijuana on Sept. 2.
He told police he and another juvenile were picked up by an SUV at a residence in the 2000 block of Third Avenue Southeast. Coreas was in the front passenger seat. He said there was a problem with the amount of money they were supposed to pay for the marijuana, so Coreas called someone on his phone. The other juvenile got out of the SUV, which drove off with him still in the backseat. Coreas then hung up the phone, loaded a pistol and pointed it at his face, demanding his money. He said Coreas took $975 from him and made him get out of the SUV.
Police spoke to the other juvenile, who said they were arranging to buy one-quarter pound of marijuana for $500 from someone named “Moe.” He told police when the SUV arrived, “Moe” was in the front passenger seat. He denied getting into the SUV, but admitted to setting up the deal.
Both juveniles identified Coreas from photographs shown to them by police.
Coreas was arrested on Oct. 6 when police saw him at the Kwik Trip on Fourth Street Northwest.
