It will be a historic Tuesday night for Austin sports as the Packer boys soccer team will be playing in its first Minnesota Class A State Boys Soccer Tournament since 2009 and the Packer football team will host its first postseason game since 2005.
The Packers (17-0-2 overall) will be taking on Bemidji (16-2-2 overall) in Prior Lake High School at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in a Minnesota Class A State quarterfinal. The Packers are undefeated and they won the Big Nine for the first time in school history this season.
In 2009, Austin lost its state quarterfinal game as it was edged out by Simley 2-1 in overtime.
Austin (4-4 overall) will be hosting Rochester John Marshall (1-7 overall) in a Section 1AAAAA quarterfinal at 7 p.m. tonight in Art Has Stadium. Austin and JM didn’t meet this season, but the Packers ended JM’s season when they beat the Rockets 28-12 in the Section 1AAAAA quarterfinals in 2016.
