The Austin Police Department recently completed its third annual Citizen Police Academy.

This was six-week program offered to the general public. Classes were held once a week for 2 ½ hours.

Participants were provided overviews about various aspects of policing including use of force concepts, the K-9 program, firearms, traffic laws, diversity issues, community policing, evidence handling, SIRT, and medical response. Academy participants graduated on Oct. 17.
