Duane Carl Braun, 71

Duane Carl Braun, 71, of Worthington, Minnesota, died peacefully after a courageous battle with brain cancer on Friday, Oct. 20, 2017, at the Sunset Hospice Cottage in Worthington.
He was born Nov. 12, 1945, in Worthington, to Adolph and Mary (Johnson) Braun. He attended country school near Worthington; and later, Worthington Public School.
Duane married Audrey Bolluyt on June 7, 1974, at the First Reformed Church in Edgerton, Minnesota. After their marriage, the couple lived in Edgerton where Duane worked at Fey Industries. They later moved to Luverne, Minnesota, where they both worked as custodians at the Luverne High School. They next moved to Worthington. Duane retired from the Worthington Travel Plaza due to glioblastoma brain cancer in January 2012. In September of this year, he had his fourth recurrence and it was diagnosed inoperable at the time.
He was a former member of the First Presbyterian Church in Reading, Minnesota; and a current member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Worthington. He enjoyed driving a limo, feeding his birds and squirrels, nature, fishing and hunting.
Duane is survived by his wife, Audrey Braun, Worthington; daughter, Melissa Braun, Austin; son, Matthew (Becki) Braun, Sioux Falls, South Dakota; four grandchildren, Faith, William, Connor and Elizabeth; brother, Robert (Carol) Braun, Chehalis, Washington; and his mother-in-law, Jean (friend, Paul Nath) Bolluyt, Luverne.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his father-in-law, Walter Bolluyt.
A time of fellowship will be from 1-3 p.m. Tuesday at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Worthington. A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Dingmann Funeral Home, in Worthington, officiated by Pastor Galen Smith. A private burial of cremains will be at a later date.
