A man who has arrest warrants in Washington and Freeborn Counties was arrested in Mower County on Sunday after 10 grams of methamphetamine were allegedly found in his vehicle.
Travis Edwin Ihrig, 36, of Osage, Iowa, was charged with felony third-degree drug possession of 10 grams or more of methamphetamine, felony fifth-degree drug possession and misdemeanor driving after revocation of his license on Monday in Mower County District Court.
According to the court complaint, a Mower County deputy stopped Ihrig in his vehicle at 12:41 a.m. Sunday after seeing him cross the centerline twice on County Road 28. Ihrig immediately told the deputy he did not have a valid driver’s license. The deputy knew Ihrig had multiple warrants and placed him under arrest.
During the initiation of the stop, the deputy saw Ihrig reach under the front seat. Given Ihrig’s prior drug convictions, the deputy called in a drug detection K-9 officer. The K-9 indicated the presence of narcotics in the vehicle and the deputy located a light green bag under the front seat armrest. Inside the bag was a smaller bag with numerous pieces of a crystalline substance that tested positive as methamphetamine.
In Minnesota, felony third-degree drug possession of 10 grams or more of methamphetamine carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and up to a $250,000 fine. Felony fifth-degree drug possession carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine.
Ihrig’s next court appearance will be on Nov. 13.
