Alumni Update: Jacobson has a big game for Winona State

Grand Meadow grad Landon Jacobson had one of his best games of the season for Winona State University with his former teammate and fellow GM grad Chris Bain on the opposite sideline as the Warriors (9-1 overall) topped Southwest Minnesota State University 45-7 in Marshall Saturday.

Jacobson had 14 carries for 70 yards and one rushing TD in the win.

On the season, Jacobson has 52 carries for 272 yards and six TDs for Winona State.

Bain has six kick returns for 63 yards this season for the Mustangs and he has two tackles.

LeRoy-Ostrander grad Jace Bunne had one tackle in the loss for the Mustangs (2-8 overall) against the Warriors, who will close out their season at Concordia-St. Paul Nov. 11.

Bunne has one catch for seven yards and one tackle on the season.

Blooming Prairie grad John Rumpza didn’t play for WSU this past Saturday, but he has thrown for 47 yards on the season. The Warriors will close out their regular season when they host Augustana at 7 p.m. on Thursday.

Blooming Prairie grad Scott Romeo has played in nine of 10 games for St. Cloud State University (6-4 overall) this season.

Romeo has five total tackles for the Huskies.

Austin grad Connor Sheehan picked up his first tackle of the season for Northern State University (5-5 overall) in a 66-21 win over University of Mary Nov. 2.

Sheehan has played in two games for NSU this season.

Austin grad Corey Waller has 10 total tackles, .5 sacks and .5 tackles for a loss this season for RCTC (6-3 overall)

Hayfield grad Lane Canny has one catch for 41 yards and a touchdown and seven total tackles this season for the Yellowjackets.

Volleyball

Hayfield grad Anna Carney finished the season with 273 digs for RCTC (16-15 overall) this season and Blooming Prairie grad Lauren Larkoski finished with 44 kills and 272 digs.

LeRoy-Ostrander grad Sam Siskow finished with 316 kills, 276 digs and 36 blocks for Riverland Community College this season.

Austin grad Jaidyn Bastian had 63 kills for RCC and Austin grad Marissa Hart had 44 kills, 204 digs and 354 set assists on the season for RCC.

Cross Country

Southland grad Peter Torkelson will run in the NJCAA Division I cross country championships for Hawkeye Community College after his team qualified for the national meet at the Region 13 meet recently.

Torkelson took 20th at the regional meet with a time of 28:04.1 in the 8K race.

He will run in nationals in Fort Dodge, Iowa Nov. 11.

Soccer

Austin grad Abel Gebrekiros recently completed a successful freshman season at Iowa Lakes Community College (10-7 overall). Gebrekiros was second on the team with seven goals and he added four assists. He had one game-winning goal and he attempted 21 shots on the season.

Austin grad Matias Parada played in six games at Luther College (11-4-5 overall) this past season and he attempted four shots on goal in those games.
