Curling league officially underway at Packer Arena

The Sunday night curling league started Sunday and run for six weeks.

If you have a group, teams of four are encouraged.  Starting January 7 there will be another eight-week league.

Everyone is welcome.Non-Friends member tickets are $40 per person and $35 for Friends members.

The doors open at 5 p.m. for social hour, music, silent auctions and raffles.  At 6:30 p.m. dinner will be served: Hormel pork loin, sides and dessert. Vegetarian and gluten-free meals are available upon request.

Director Luke Reese and master of ceremonies. Chris Anderson will begin the program at 7 p.m. followed by a live auction.  All proceeds will go to the Jay C. Hormel Nature Center Operations Fund, which supports interns, staffing, and programs throughout the year. None of the Nature Center’s programming would be possible without the community’s continued support.

Leagues

Pickleball: Open gym continues on Wednesday evenings at Ellis Middle School.

Pickleball nets will be in the auxiliary gym, 6:30-8 p.m. on Nov. 29, Dec. 6, 13 and 20. The cost is $2 per person at the door.

Wrestling: Austin Youth Wrestling will begin their season on Monday, Nov. 27. Registration is now open.

Register at Austin Park & Recreation 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Wrestling is held on Monday and Wednesday evenings for those in pre-K to  sixth grade. Pre-K to second grades meet from 6-6:45 p.m. the cost is $30. Third to sixth grade meet from 7-8 p.m. The cost is $50. If you have a third family child they are free.

The cost includes a T-shirt if registered by Dec. 5 and your NYWA insurance membership.  The registration form can be found on the Austin Park & Recreation Facebook page and also give a like to “Austin Wrestling” Facebook page too for all updates and forms.

Volleyball: Adult volleyball players have until Friday, Dec. 8 to register their teams for the winter league which will begin the first Wednesday for women or Friday for co-ed in January.

Winter Roll team entry fee is $185 plus your $8 per player fee and runs 10 weeks. Your team must have a minimum of six players with a maximum of 12 players. All players must be 16 years of age or older as of Jan. 1, 2018, to play in the adult league.

There will be volleyball open gym at Ellis for those grades seventh through 12th on the following dates and times:  6-8 p.m., Dec 20; 10 a.m. to noon, Dec 27, 28.  MSF volleyball teams, U11-U18 sign up to play in the March MSF tournament to be held in Austin on March 17 and 18. Practice will be held 3-6 p.m. on Sunday afternoons beginning Jan. 7. Specific times to be determined  following registration on Friday, Jan.  5. Cost is $50 per player.

Students in third to sixth grade, sign up for volleyball camp by Jan. 3, 2018. Camp will be at Ellis Middle School gyms from 6:15-7:15 p.m. The cost is $35 on Jan. 8, 18, 22, Feb. 12, 22, 26 and March 1.

Flag football: Adults interested in playing flag football this winter on Sunday nights, the team entry deadline is Dec. 22. Games will be played in the Wescott Field Dome at 6 and 7 p.m. starting Jan. 7 for eight weeks (no games on Super Bowl Sunday).

Your team entry fee is $477 and must have seven players listed on your roster when you register.

Public skate: 4:30-5:45 p.m. 14; 6:15-7:45 p.m. Nov. 15; 6-8 p.m., Nov. 17.

Stick time: 4:30-6 p.m., Nov. 15.
