Grass fire burns on Interstate 90

The Austin Fire Department and Austin Police Department responded to a fire along Interstate 90 on Monday afternoon.
According to Austin Police Chief Brian Krueger, dispatch received numerous calls about a fire along Interstate 90 East between the 14th Street Northwest exit and Turtle Creek, near the Riverland Community College campus. The fire engulfed an area roughly 40 yards by 100 yards.
Austin firefighters and police arrived at the scene at
4:06 p.m. The fire was extinguished at 4:20 p.m. and the scene cleared at 4:32 p.m.
It is unknown what caused the fire.
Law enforcement advises that, due to the wind and dry weather, drivers should not discard anything the could cause a fire.
