It’s that time again — time for the Canadian Pacific Holiday Train, that is.

The brightly-lighted train will arrive in Austin at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 6, to 550 11th St. NE, one of  more than two-dozen stops at Minnesota towns on its annual ride through the northern U.S. The train last came to Austin in 2015.

The train will be in Minnesota from Dec. 5 to Dec. 13. In addition to Minnesota, the U.S. schedule includes stops in North Dakota, Iowa, Wisconsin, Illinois, and New York. The U.S. trek began on Nov. 26 in New York.

Free entertainment will be provided by country stars Terri Clark, Dallas Smith and Kelly Prescott, from 5:15-5:45 p.m.

“The Holiday Train program is all about local food banks and food shelves and the critical role they play in our communities, “ said Keith Creel, CP’s president and CEO.  “People come for the beautifully-lit train and stay for the incredible show – all in the name of community. The holiday season is the best time of the year, and we look forward to bringing together thousands of Canadians and Americans this season for this incredibly important cause and a great time. “

The program was launched in 1999 and has since raised more than $13 million and four million pounds of food for communities along CP’s routes in Canada and the United States.
