Indiana man accused of slashing tires, making threats

Anthony Michael Robert Johnson, 23, of Indianapolis, Indiana, pleaded not guilty to felony first-degree criminal damage to property and felony terroristic threats on Monday in Mower County District Court. He was charged on Nov. 20.

According to the court complaint, Mower County deputies responded to a call about damaged vehicles at 8:15 a.m. on Sept. 27 in the 900 block of North Everett Street in LeRoy.  A man and a woman at the residence said the tires on their vehicles had been slashed.

The woman said that Johnson, who was known to her, had been released from jail in Indiana three days earlier and had called her on Sept. 25 and threatened to burn down her house and take away her 3-year-old daughter. He also said he was coming to LeRoy, she said.

She said she believes he was responsible for the damage,  estimated as $600 for one vehicle and $550 for the other.

Johnson was arrested Nov. 18 on a warrant.

Felony first-degree criminal damage to property and felony terroristic threats both carry maximum penalties of five years in prison and a $5,000 fine.

Johnson’s pre-trial is scheduled for Jan. 19.
