Michael Adam Skurdahl, 41, pleaded guilty to felony theft by check as part of a plea agreement on Monday in Mower County District Court.
A charge of issuing a dishonored check of more than $500, a felony, will be dropped at sentencing as part of that agreement.
Grand Meadow police responded to a call of bad checks at Glynn’s Motor Mart on March 22.
The owner told police that Wells Fargo bank had returned two checks valued at $307.04 and $228.05.
The checks were dated March 5 and listed “State Farms Insurance” and “Michael A. Skurdahl” on them. Wells Fargo informed the store the account had been closed.
A review of Skurdahl’s criminal record shows prior felony convictions for theft, financial transaction card fraud and
check forgery.
In Minnesota, felony theft by check carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
Skurdahl will be sentenced on Feb. 16.
