Something new

We would like to invite you to set up an online account.

This will allow you to register for Park & Recreation and Jay C. Hormel Nature Center programs.  Currently, you can sign up for the youth volleyball camp and archery.  You will also be able to request facility rentals for your private events.

The link will be at our website www.ci.austin.mn.us. Click on “City Departments;” followed by choosing on-line registration.

From there, click on the registration tab, click on youth and the programs will be listed. If you have not created your account when you click on the register tab it will ask you to log in or create an account.  If you have questions  please call.

Camps

Sign up for the third to sixth grade volleyball camp by Jan. 3.  The camp will be at Ellis Middle School gyms from 6:15-7:15 p.m. on these dates: Jan. 8, 18, 22, Feb. 12, 22, 26 and March 1.

The cost is $35.

There will be volleyball open gym at Ellis for those in seventh through 12th grades on the following dates and times:  6-8 p.m. on Dec 20 and 10 a.m. to noon on Dec 27 and 28.

MSF volleyball teams, U11-U18 sign up to play in the March MSF Tournament to be held in Austin on March 17-18. Practice will be held on Sunday afternoons beginning Jan. 7, 2018 from 3-6 p.m. Specific times will be determined following registration on Friday, Jan. 5. The cost is $50 per player.

There may also be other times available to teams.  These teams will also have other tournament opportunities for additional fees.

Sign up for our Youth Archery League on Wednesday or Thursday evenings beginning Jan. 3 or 4. The archery league is held in the 4-H building at the Mower County Fairgrounds from 6-7:30 p.m. for 11 weeks.  The cost is $60 per person for ages 9 to 18.  Equipment is available if you do not have your own.

Adults interested in playing flag football this winter on Sunday nights, the team entry deadline is Dec. 22. Games will be played in the Wescott Field dome at 6 and 7 p.m. starting Jan. 7 for eight weeks. There will be no games on Super Bowl Sunday.

Your team entry fee is $477 and must have seven players listed on your roster when you register, players must be 18 years of age.  For more information contact Riley Donovan at the Park & Recreation Office, 507-396-5027.

Pickleball open gym continues on Wednesday evenings at Ellis Middle School. Pickleball nets will be in the auxiliary gym 6:30-8 p.m. on Dec. 20. Watch for more dates.  The cost is $2 per person at the door.

The Austin Youth Soccer Association will offer soccer opportunities in the dome. Deadlines are fast approaching on Dec. 22 for a 5 to 12-year-old January camp. Dates  are Jan. 9,16, 23 and 30.  The cost is $40 and they meet on Tuesdays 6:30-8 p.m.  The league play for those ages U13-U18 teams. Team fee is $300 and will play on Saturday mornings Jan. 6, 13, 20 and 27.  Drop off your registration at Games People Play.  They will also offer another camp in February for the 5 to 12-year olds.

Dome

Austin High School will be offering some open dome times on the following dates:  Dec 19, Jan 9, 23, Feb. 6, 20, March 6, 20, April 3 and 17. The cost is $2 per child and $5 per adult. During these same dates they will offer the use of the golf nets at $5 per player.
