After some back and forth in the first half, Austin came out shooting in the second half, taking down Rochester Mayo 85-67 in Rochester Saturday night.
The win comes just a few days after the Packers suffered their first loss of the season to Owatonna earlier in the week.
The effort was spearheaded by Duoth Gach who had a career high 37 points.
“Duoth obviously had a big night,” said head coach Kris Fadness.
The Packers had to withstand a strong first half from Mayo, leading 41-38 at the half, but Austin kick-started the second half with a 11-1 run. However, for Fadness is a night of mixed results.
“It was nice to get the win,” he said. “But we didn’t play up to the standard I want us to play.”
Moses Issa kicked in 15 points while Nyagoa Obany had 12 points.
After a particularly tough grind the first half of the season, the Packers will get a bit of a break. They are off until Friday when they host Winona at 7:30 p.m. in Packer Gym.
