Monica Johnson, 104, formerly of Rose Creek, Minnesota, died Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2018, at Good Samaritan Comforcare in Austin, Minnesota.

Monica was born April 22, 1913, in Austin to Martin and Margaret (McBride) Reagan. She grew up on a farm in Rose Creek and graduated from Rose Creek High School. She went on to attend Teachers Normal School and became a teacher, teaching all grades in country schools in the area.

On Jan. 8, 1951, Monica was united in marriage to Olaf Johnson at St. Peters Catholic Church in Rose Creek. Monica was a devoted housewife and a wonderful cook. She was a caregiver to her mother, Margaret, who lived with Olaf and Monica. She was very close to her sister Muriel; they were always together.

Monica was involved with all her nieces and nephews, like a second mother, and was also the sweet next-door neighbor everyone loved to visit.

Monica loved to knit, cross-stitch, and had a beautiful rose garden.

Survivors include sister-in-law, Genevieve Reagan, Austin; nieces, Mary Nelson, Stockton, California, Patricia (Ron) Dillavou, Rose Creek, Bernadine (Terry) Kantola, Cook, Minnesota, Jean (Tom) Clark, Austin, Teresa (Brian) Bergene, Rose Creek, Cathy (Jim) Colling, Jordan, Minnesota, Joanne (Al) Hall, Plymouth, Minnesota, Sharon Thoen, Omaha, Nebraska, Virginia Reagan, Circle Pines, Minnesota, Sandra Fielding, Austin, and Wanda (Jon) Lenoch, Austin; nephews, Marty (Ginny) Reagan, Omaha, Michael (Sue) Hangge, Arden Hills, Minnesota, John Reagan, Austin, Jerry Bugge, Owatonna, Minnesota, and Dennis Vaughter, Burton, Michigan.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Olaf, in 2000; brothers, John (Adele) Reagan and Bernard Reagan; sisters, Muriel (George) Hangge and Catherine Margaret Reagan; niece, Margaret Vaughter; nephews, Marty Thoen and Ron Nelson.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2018, at St. Peters Catholic Church in Rose Creek with Father Dale Tupper officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Interment will be in St. Peters Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to St. Peters Church in Rose Creek or the hospice of your choice.
