Father and daughter Neal and Berghyn Hull won the 2018 Foodie Throwdown on Saturday at the Hormel Historic Home.

With this year’s contest having a “hoedown” theme, the Hulls defeated five other teams in the main dish and dessert categories. The winning menu included:

• Three Little Pigs Sliders —hand-breaded pork tenderloin, smoked sausage and braised pork belly served on a slider bun with arugula, sriracha mayonnaise, crispy jalapenos, spicy pickle and cherry tomato;

• Big Bad Beans —pinto, butter, red kidney, white kidney and lima beans mixed with smoked sausage, pork sausage, beef brisket and bacon slathered with their secret barbecue sauce; and

• Drunken Pig Peach Cobbler —peaches infused with Dr. McGillicuddy’s Peach Schnapps and cinnamon, topped with a homemade pie crust and a no-churn cinnamon ice cream and garnished with a “drunken pig” pie crust cookie.

According to Hormel Historic Home Director Holly Johnson, the event raised over $10,000 from ticket sales and the purchase of auction items.

All money raised will support the preservation and mission of the Hormel Historic Home.
