Lyle-Pacelli boys move on after 60-54 in Section 1A tourney; Trinity Anderson hits for 23 points

The No. 11 seeded Lyle-Pacelli boys basketball team knocked off No. 6 Randolph (19-8 overall) by a score of 60-54 in a Section 1A tournament opener Thursday.
Trinity Anderson knocked down six threes and scored 23 points for the Athletics as they led by as many as 16 points in the second half. The Rockets got as close as three points down the stretch. LP (15-10 overall) knocked down eight free throws in the closing minutes to seal the win.
“We really focused on shutting down their leading scorer Carsyn Gunderson and we held him to four points,” LP head coach Scott Koenigs said. “He is a tough player and Joseph [Maas] and Zach [Bollingberg] worked hard on him.”
LP will play No. 3 Wabasha-Kellogg (16-11 overall) in a Section 1A quarterfinal in Mayo Civic Center 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
