Letter: Please tie up your cats already

Published 6:40 am Thursday, June 26, 2008

We live at 710 Eighth St. S.W. On June 23, our cat was on a leash in our fenced in backyard when a cat came over our fence and attacked our cat. We were lucky to be in the back part of the house and ran to chase the loose cat away from our tied up cat.

What is wrong with the mentality of people that let their cats run loose? We have had cats for years and always kept them on a leash or in the house. I am getting a live trap and any cat that gets in it will be going to the dog pound. If you care about your cats, put them on a leash or keep them in the house. Try to be smarter, if that’s possible, than the animal you let run loose.

Our cat should be able to be safe in our own back yard. These loose cats kill birds and baby rabbits and use children’s sand boxes for litter boxes.

This problem is not caused by cats, it’s caused by the irresponsible people that own them.
