Vicki Jordan, 77

Vicki Jordan, 77, of Fairmont, Minnesota, passed away Sunday, March 18, 2018, at her home in Fairmont.

Victoria “Vicki” Lou Jordan was born on Oct. 3, 1940, in Emmetsburg, Iowa, to Harry and Julia (Jedwski) Fordyce. She received her education from Fairmont High School and graduated with the Class of 1958. After high school, she attended Mankato State College, where she earned her degree in education.

On Dec. 23, 1961, Vicki was united in marriage to Bernard (Ben) Jordan at the Fairmont United Methodist Church. After their marriage, Vicki and Ben lived in Sherburn, Minnesota, Adams, Minnesota, Devils Lake, North Dakota, and eventually moved back to Fairmont after their retirement. Vicki worked as a social studies and physical education teacher and as a state program director for REM in North Dakota. She was also a girls basketball coach for St. Mary’s High School in Devils Lake. While living in Adams, Vicki was the first woman elected to the Adams town council. Vicki enjoyed playing party bridge, duplicate bridge, and ballroom dancing and was an avid fisherman. In high school, Vicki enjoyed hunting.

She is survived by her loving husband, Ben Jordan of Fairmont; daughter, Marilyn (Joel) St. Germaine of New Town, North Dakota; son, Tenis Scott of Fairmont; brothers and sisters-in-law, Gerald (Rose) Jordan of Fairmont, Harley (Roxy) Jordan of Mound, Minnesota, and Diane Jordan of Mound; and several nieces and nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; parents-in-law, Kayle and Irene Jordan; brothers, Gordon (Arlyss) Fordyce and Dean (Betty) Fordyce; and sister, Dorothy Fordyce.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the “Dream Team” oncology nurses in Fairmont.

Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 22, 2018, at the Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont. Burial will be held at Lakeside Cemetery in Fairmont at a later date. Visitation will be noon to 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 22, 2018, at the Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont. The Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.
