Adissa Kossi, 24, of Austin was charged on Wednesday in Mower County District Court with felony second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon and misdemeanor domestic assault.
According to the court complaint, officers responded to a call at 2:06 a.m. on Tuesday about an assault in progress at the Burr Oak Villas Apartments. They met with the victim, who said she had been letting Kossi sleep in a queen-sized bed she owned, while she slept on an air mattress. She said Kossi had been coming home late, so she decided to sleep in the bed. She said Kossi woke her up and they began arguing over who would sleep in the bed.
Kossi then attacked the victim, striking her on the rib cage with a phone charger, according to the complaint. The victim said she grabbed a phone to call a neighbor and Kossi struck her in the face with the phone charger. She said the fight continued until the neighbor knocked on the door. The victim said she hid behind the neighbor after answering the door. Kossi then allegedly grabbed a knife from the kitchen and brandished it at them while threatening to stab them.
Officers observed that the victim had a large cut on her chin, a cut on her foot, a scratch on her rib cage, and dried blood on her chin, hand and chest, according to the complaint. Officers collected the phone charger, which appeared to have dried blood on the casing and prongs.
Officers spoke to the neighbor, who allegedly confirmed that Kossi threatened the victim and himself with the knife. They were unable to find the knife.
Kossi will appear in court again on April 10.
