County board sets letting date for additional street work

Thanks to a low bidding climate, the Mower County Board of Commissioners will undertake five more street or bridge projects this summer.
Bid letting will take place at 1 p.m. on April 26. No estimate of the work was given.
The work will be done on:
•County Road 51 (16th Avenue Southwest) in Austin, mill and overlay;
•County-State Aid Highway (CSAH) 4 in Marshall Township, bridge replacement;
•CSAH 5 from west county line to Trunk Highway 105 in Lyle Township, cold inplace (recyled bituminous) and overlay;
•CSAH 25 in Lansing town, urban reconstruction, curb and gutter;
•CSAH 28 from TH 105 to TH 218 in Austin Township cold-inplace (recycled bituminous) and overlay.
The board also awarded bids for three bridge projects, all to Towne and Country Excavating, LLC of Garvin, one of eight companies to bid on the projects. The work will include bridge removal, installation of concrete box culverts, grading and surfacing on all projects:
•On 660th Avenue, 1 mile north of CSAH 3, in Marshall Township; bridge removal, installation of concrete box culverts, grading and surfacing, $131,275.50;
•On 250th Street, nine-tenths of a mile east of TH 56 in Red Rock Township, $113,401.45; and
•On 590th Avenue, eight-tenths of a mile north of CSAH 5, in Nevada Township, $144,053.90.
Commissioners also awarded a bid from Baudoin Oil Co., Inc., of Grand Meadow, for its bid of $29,330, for gasoline and diesel fuel delivery; to AAA Striping Service, Inc., of Michael, Minnesota, for its striping work, with its bid of $130,200; and Flint Hills Resource, LP, for furnishing and delivering bituminous material for job sites.
