Zachary Martin Koecher, 28, of Austin pleaded guilty to felony terroristic threats and felony violating a domestic abuse no contact order within 10 years of two or more convictions as part of a plea agreement on Monday in Mower County District Court.
He initially pleaded not guilty to the charges on March 1 and March 12 respectively. A charge of felony stalking-repeated text messages/phone calls with two or more priors and five counts of felony violating a domestic abuse no contact order within 10 years of two or more convictions were dismissed.
Koecher’s ex-girlfriend told police that Koecher had sent her “harassing” text messages, including threats to “kill” her, since she took her car back from him while he was at work on Feb. 9. He was later arrested at Rodeway Inn.
His ex-girlfriend filed a domestic abuse not contact order against him on Feb. 15, but Koecher started calling and texting her again on Feb. 16 after his release from jail. He was arrested again on Feb. 26. A review of Koecher’s criminal history shows prior convictions for domestic assault and drug possession. He will be sentenced on July 12.
