This area is under another winter storm warning, which could bring 6 to 9 inches of snow by the time it ends early Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service in LaCrosse, Wis.

Heavy snow and light freezing rain is possible, with localized snow amounts reaching to as much as 11 inches.

Snow was expected to begin early this morning and was predicted to continue until 4 a.m. Wednesday.

Tonight’s commute is expected to be impacted with hazardous roads and significantly reduced visibility.

The system will impact southeastern Minnesota into west central and central Wisconsin, and portions of northeast Iowa, where lesser amounts of snow are expected.

North winds are expected to increase today with gusts up to 30 mph, which could cause some patchy or blowing snow. Highs are expected in the low-30s, dipping into the single digits tonight, at about 9 degrees above zero.

What to expect

Today: Snow expected to continue with winds between 11 and 20 mph and gusts as high as 30 mph. New snow accumulation of three to five inches.

Tonight: Snow continuing with skies expected to begin clearing. Wind chill values of -3 predicted. New snow accumulatoin of 1 to 3 inches possible.
