Austin man arrested for alleged heroin sale

Anthony Bynum, 52, of Austin was arrested on Monday after allegedly selling heroin to law enforcement.

According to Austin Police Chief Brian Krueger, a controlled drug buy was conducted on Monday near Galloway Park as part of a joint investigation between the Austin Police Department and Mower County Sheriff’s Office.

Law enforcement met with Bynum, who allegedly sold them ½ gram of heroin for $100.

Law enforcement then conducted a search warrant at 3 p.m. on Monday at Bynum’s residence in the 1000 block of Second Avenue Southwest. They allegedly found three grams of cocaine and three grams of heroin, valued at $300 and $600 respectively. They also found $100 in bills with serial numbers that allegedly matched those of the bills used in the controlled buy.

Bynum is being held at the Mower County Jail awaiting possible charges of felony second-degree drug sales and felony fifth-degree drug possession.

The case has been forwarded to the Mower County Attorney’s office.

A review of Bynum’s criminal record shows prior convictions for drug possession and drug sales.
