Letter: Project Graduation wouldn’t be possible without community support

Project Graduation, “Celebrate in ‘08, Great things await,” was held on Friday, June 6, 2008, at Austin High School following the AHS graduation ceremony.

This event has been held each year since 1989 to celebrate the end of high school for all of Austin’s graduating seniors. Planning begins each January and culminates with the festivities which include games, food, entertainment, prizes, and gifts for the students. This year 178 students participated in the event.

Without the dedicated and continued support of the community, this wonderful party would not be the safe farewell it has become. More than 150 adult volunteers planned and staffed the event. Nearly 200 businesses and service clubs donated time, money, or prizes to make the evening so special.

We would like to thank the community, the many donors, the volunteers, the Austin public school administration and custodial staff, and the security volunteers. The party was a success because of their dedicated work. The students who attended were very appreciative of all the efforts expended, and the feedback from the seniors was very positive.

We thank all of you for your generous support in making this another successful Project Graduation.
