A winter storm warning continues in effect for Mower County, as a sleet and snow mix continues to spread through the area. The system is expected to turn over to all snow by noon today, according to the National Weather Service in LaCrosse, Wis.

A total of 4 to 8 inches are forecast by the time the warning expires, at  1 a.m. Thursday. Locally higher amounts are possible.

Snowfall rates of 1 to 2 inches an hour are likely. Roads are expected to quickly become snow-covered and hazardous.
