The Austin City Council unanimously approved contract bids for two street reconstruction projects scheduled for this summer during its regular meeting on Monday.

Public Works Director Steven Lang received bids from Hansen Hauling & Excavating and Ulland Brothers for asphalt street reconstruction work on 19th Street Northeast and Fifth Street and 12th Avenue Northwest.

Hansen Hauling & Excavating came out as the lowest bidder on both projects, bidding $1,334,975.25 and 1,043,310.62 respectively. Both bids came in under Lang’s estimates.

Work on both projects will consist of pavement removal, sanitary and storm sewer improvements, asphalt paving and sidewalk replacement.

The projects will be funded with money from the Capital Improvement, Waste Water Treatment Plant, and Stormwater Utility Funds.
