The Austin boys tennis team opened its season up with a 4-3 loss to Mankato East on the road Friday.

Josh Brehmer picked up a win at No. 2 singles for the Packers (0-1 overall, 0-1 Big Nine). Austin’s No. 1 doubles team of Logan Braaten and Bryar Flanders picked up a win and the No. 2 doubles team of Ryan Walters and Joey Schammel won as well.

It felt great to play a match today. For our first match and without five of our top 11 players it was great to see the guys fight hard and compete,” Austin head coach Jeff Anderson said. “I was really pleased with Logan, Bryar, Ryan and Joey in doubles. They played great matches today and found a way to finish their matches in tie breakers. Josh Brehmer began his senior season where he left off last season.”
